Dialogues with the Natural World

In 2022 The Northern Beaches council awarded a grant towards the research and development of the Soundscape artworks. The outcome included an animated video piece, prints, oil paintings, and collaborations with street artist and animator, M-Lon, and music producer, Gary Sinclair, of Tactile Music. Public programs around this exhibition included group meditations and workshops. Here are some photographs of an exhibition of the artworks at the Creative Space, Curl Curl in October 2023.

Soundscape Prints

These Soundscapes are visual representations of sounds from my environment. They are transformed into intricate artworks using spectrographs. The work explores the voice and agency of the natural world, particularly within the coastal landscape of the Northern Beaches.

Soundscape Meditation

A transformative Soundscape Meditation, guided by mindfulness instructor Carolina Gonzalez and artist Susie Dureau. This meditation experience revolves around "EcoVox," a dynamic and colourful artwork that delves into the expressive power of the natural world, particularly in the coastal landscapes of the northern beaches.

Soundscape Workshops

Create your own captivating soundscape artwork! Dive into the world of art with local artist Susie Dureau in a workshop where you'll collaborate on a unique contemporary artwork crafted from the sounds of the landscape.

To participate, please bring your mobile phone as you'll be recording sounds and using a spectrogram app to transform them into visuals. Susie will expertly combine your collected sounds to craft an artwork reminiscent of those showcased in the exhibition. Your one-of-a-kind artwork will be sent to you via email within a week following the workshop.

Best of all, this workshop is open to all ages, and it's absolutely free. If you're under 12, make sure to have an adult accompany you. Join us for this unique artistic adventure!
