How Far Do You Love Me?
There is one question that all children ask of their parents in one form or another: “How much do you love me?”
I answer in distances and landscapes. “To the dark sandy floor of the deepest ocean and the highest peak of the tallest mountain… to the end of the galaxy and back”. No ordinary distance is quite far enough.
Motherhood does take me to the farthest outlying lands of my emotional and physical tolerance. It also allows me to encounter great beauty and other mighty things that I perhaps would not otherwise have known.
This body of work attempts to bring visual form to the idea that a mother’s love is a force that voyages over all terrains.
